Why must people do this to non-xians?

This Sunday I helped my ailing grandma move into a nursing home. As we passed by the entertainment room there was a xian sermon going on and I overheard the preacher say "The Universal Unitarians spread lies and deny Jesus....." so I waited and listened. A young guy, preacher's assistant, saw me standing there and brought me a chair to sit. I said no thanks but informed him I was Unitarian. I waited and after the sermon approached the minister. I introduced myself and said I'm a Unitarian, atheist. She asked if I believed in god to which I replied there is no god. She asked about JC and I said JC never existed. She said there is evidence and I said it was changed after the fact so there is no evidence. We shook hands and she said that it's important for us to understand each other. I said "Maam, I completely agree" and left with a smile.

I'm so glad to see you have a blog up and running now, this is great. My book should be in tomorrow and I'll get started reading right away.

Did the pastor you wrote about here even flinch when you said you were an Unitarian Atheist? Even as a Christian, I cannot respect Christian leaders that resort to publicly bashing other groups. I see no point to this.

Your earlier question about atheist and morality is one that I have actually wondered about for a long time. I believe that some Christians think that atheists don't have a moral code to follow because they don't follow the exact same one as they do concerning, say, abortion (thou shalt not kill to some Christians), sex (no sex outside of marriage), and language (let no unwholesome word...), or because the Christians don't believe they themselves would be holding to any morals at all without believing they came from a higher power, which speaks in a sad way to their character. The only other reason I can see for Christians' view is that they want somehow to be believe that being a Christian somehow makes them a better person. Theologically there is no basis for this idea and I sincerely hope I am wrong about some Christians thinking this.

As for the North/South Bible belt question, I have no idea. It doesn't really make sense...

Well quite regrettably *some* Unitarian*Universalists aka U*Us do in fact spread lies and deny Jesus. Indeed fundamentalist atheist U*Us like yourself deny God. If I am not mistaken you denied both God and Jesus in this blog post. N'est-ce pas?

BTW You are not in a position to truthfully assert that "there is no god" and that "JC never existed." There is plenty of evidence that Jesus of Nazareth existed, regardless of whether or not he was "the Son of God", and there is plenty of evidence that there is a God. In fact there is far more evidence pointing to their existence than there is evidence against their existence. What evidence can you or any other atheist produce that serves as compelling evidence that neither God nor Jesus ever existed?
